How inspections work
Email the Building Inspector at inspector@tontitownar.gov or call 479-263-9215. The city states an inspection will be performed within one business day. It is the permit holder's duty to notify the building official when work is ready for inspection.
What the office says about permits
Building applications posted by the city include Single Family and Duplex Dwelling, Multi-Family Dwelling, Commercial Addition, Commercial and Industrial, Commercial Tenant In Fill, Commercial Remodel, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, Fence, Demolition, Driveway Access, Structural Moving, Miscellaneous Construction, Change of Occupancy or Use, and the Washington County 911 Address application. Most are available as online forms and as downloadable PDFs. No fee schedule is posted online.
Work that may not need a permit
This jurisdiction does not publish a list of exempt work. Do not assume a small job is exempt; one phone call settles it.
Contractor registration
The city posts a business license application and states a business license cannot be issued for a new business or a change of location until the form is approved by the Planning Department. The city does not publish a separate contractor registration requirement for pulling a permit.
Can a homeowner pull their own permit?
The jurisdiction does not publish an owner-builder policy. Many Arkansas cities allow it for an owner-occupied home and some do not. Ask directly.
