How inspections work
No separate inspection line is published. Contact Building Official Rick Bramall at 479-267-3865 or richardbramall@cityoffarmington-ar.gov.
What the office says about permits
The Building Official issues building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, sign, demolition and certificate of occupancy permits. Permit fees are based on the value of material and labor, starting at $20.00 for work valued at $1 to $2,000 and rising to $260.00 at $50,000, per the city fee schedule. The city does not publish a list of work that is exempt from permits, so call before starting a project.
Work that may not need a permit
This jurisdiction does not publish a list of exempt work. Do not assume a small job is exempt; one phone call settles it.
Contractor registration
The city requires a business license for all businesses ($50.00 initial, $25.00 annual renewal, applied for at City Hall). The city does not publish a separate contractor registration tied to pulling a permit.
Can a homeowner pull their own permit?
The jurisdiction does not publish an owner-builder policy. Many Arkansas cities allow it for an owner-occupied home and some do not. Ask directly.
