How inspections work
The city's Building Inspector page directs inspection requests to the Lincoln Municipal Office at 479-824-3453. City code requires inspections for footing, plumbing, concrete slab, electrical, insulation, mechanical, drywall, and final.
What the office says about permits
Lincoln Municipal Code Chapter 11.04 requires a permit for construction, remodeling, alteration, reroofing, and structural work. Roof repair exceeding 100 square feet within twelve months requires a permit. Fees printed in the code: single-family and duplex $0.33 per square foot for the first 2,000 square feet then $0.30 per square foot; commercial and office $0.40 per square foot for the first 2,000 square feet then $0.35; industrial $0.42 per square foot for the first 5,000 square feet then $0.37; remodels and alterations $25 base plus $4 per $1,000 over $1,000; inspections $100 per building system inspection and $100 per remodel or alteration.
Work that may not need a permit
Portable buildings are exempt from the permit requirement. Cosmetic work such as replacing cabinets or floor coverings does not require a permit.
Contractor registration
Whether contractors must register with this jurisdiction before pulling a permit is not published. Ask before you schedule the work.
Can a homeowner pull their own permit?
City code states the application for any building permit will be submitted by the landowner concerned to the Mayor, or City Hall, in duplicate copy, so a property owner may apply.
