How inspections work
Request through the iWorq permit portal. Search by parcel or project address, pick the trade (building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing), click Request Inspection, and enter the contractor access code (state license number without dashes). Each trade is scheduled separately. Allow about 24 hours.
What the office says about permits
Permits are required for building, demolition, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, swimming pools, signs, grading, and moving projects. There is no online application intake; completed applications are emailed to risk.reduction@lowellarkansas.gov. Building permit fees are calculated as gross area x square foot construction cost x permit multiplier, plus any expansion and impact fees. Inspections are scheduled through the iWorq portal.
Work that may not need a permit
This jurisdiction does not publish a list of exempt work. Do not assume a small job is exempt; one phone call settles it.
Contractor registration
A city business license is required and the application is handled through the Risk Reduction Division. Scheduling an inspection requires a contractor access code based on the state license number.
Can a homeowner pull their own permit?
The jurisdiction does not publish an owner-builder policy. Many Arkansas cities allow it for an owner-occupied home and some do not. Ask directly.
